After the state power crisis dented his profits,
ABC Auto Care owner, Lee Lizzarraga
installed solar system and saw his electric
bill plummet. Every electric device
at this one-story repair shop on Market
Street in Ventura, California, from
the overhead lights in the front office
to the hydraulic lifts, are powered
by the roof mounted solar modules. According
to the California Energy Commission,
Mr. Lizarraga has the first solar powered
auto repair shop in the state. 44% of
the initial investment was paid through
rebates and tax write-offs and another
32% was covered by a low-interest loan
sponsored by the California Energy Commission.
Mr. Lizarraga said his former $600
montly electric bill has been reduced
by as much as 90%.

Camp Ramah Goes Solar… On 90 Acres
in the heart of the Ojai Valley,
is installing the largest private non-profit solar power
generator system in the state. The 270kW solar
power energy system is planned
to be installed by spring 2007
in three stages so as not to effect
the busy summer camp season. One
third has been installed to date,
providing one-third of the camps
electrical need using a solar
power generator system. The 90kW
three-sided Cafeteria system provides
a state-of-the-art solar power
energy monitoring system that
includes two 32" LCD displays
for educational and camp presentations.
GreenerEnergy.ca provided sophisticated
tax planning and aggressive California
solar power rebates and net metering
advice that made the project a
reality. Funding was supplied
by a grateful sponsor.

This 29kW solar power system was
installed on a new tilt-up, glue-lam
20k sq ft bldg. Most of the electrical
bill was eliminated by the solar
power energy system as estimated,
but with added benefits. California
state law states that if you work
on a commercial roof you must
now apply a cool roof coating, reducing
the roof temp by 30 degrees. With
the cool roof applied and the
solar power modules shading most
of the roof, the AC bill was cut
in half, eliminating the entire
electrical bill. Another pleasantly
surprised customer.

Urban Development (HUD) complex
improves the quality of life for
low income families in Richmond,
California and provides a quick

real estate investment trust.

The installation
of this new 37.5 kW solar electrical
system is only the first phase
of a project shop-owners Marty
Cherrie and Jed Renshaw hope will
reduce their Southern California
Edison bill down to nothing. Over
3,380 square feet of roof-mounted
panels on the south side of the
building power the entire building
including halogen lights and air
conditioning. "The panels
produce enough electricity to
actually spin the electric meters
backwards when usage is low."
said Marty Cherrie. "With
rebates and tax incentives paying
for about 80% of the project,
solar power systems just make
economic sense. I highly recommend
it."

Trimco Finish emerges as a maverick
of renewable energy in Orange
County with the installation of
the first
photovoltaic solar project in
the city of Santa Ana.
The 178 kW grid-tied system now
powers everything from lights
to air conditioning in this 50,000
sq. ft. facility. The solar electrical
system adds value to the property
and provides a hedge on inflation
by locking in electric costs for
the next twenty-five years. Solar
rebates, incentives and accelerated
depreciation covered 80% of the
system's cost, giving the project
a five year payback and good return
on investment.

In the Scenic corridor zone of
Malibu Canyon right off the 101
Fwy stands the First Commercial
Solar Power Generator Gas Station
in LA County, installed by SES
of Westlake Village, CA. The newly
constructed Shell station/mini-mart
and residence has just opened
for the busy summer beach season.
This two year solar power generation
project through the local building
department required multiple rebates
and detailed coordination because
of the restrictive Scenic Corridor
issues as well as complex solar
electrical power construction
issues. The local building inspector
stated that SES was the only solar
electrical power contractor that
had it together on the project,
including the general.

When the Electrical Switching Authority
for the Western United States
decided to install a reliable
energy system, they hired SES
to design and install a 25kW solar
electric system using advanced
solar technology. SES installed
a 3:12 pitch, non-penetrating
solar array attachment system
and cadmium telluride (CdTe) and
copper indium diselenide (CIS)
thin film photovoltaic modules
on this world-class building near
Folsom Lake.

Two commercial buildings on busy
Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks,
California get their electricity from the sun.
The adjoining buildings were ideal
candidates for solar power because
they needed re-roofing, most of
the electricity is consumed during
the day and the Los Angeles Department
of Water & Power was offering
the best solar rebate in the nation.
SES moved air conditioners, welded
solar array stanchions to the
buildings’ steel structure, re-roofed
both buildings and installed 888
Shell 140-watt solar modules on
both buildings. This project had
a 3-year break-even and an excellent
return on investment.

The
system you installed for me is going great guns.
Thought you might like to know that during a break in
the clouds today the 1915 watt system hit a record output
of 2,777 watts - that's 45% over spec. Amazing.
It is just as well I had the larger inverter put in. I
might not need the extra panels.
